CCS/DRV8312-69M-KIT: is dead band configuration not need in 28069 when drive the DRV8312 for PMSM FOC?

Dear expert and guys, is dead band configuration  not need in 28069 when drive the DRV8312 for PMSM FOC? I found the demo PM_Sensorless , pwm 1_B was setting as gpio1 which was always high level.  I have understander the DRV8312 drive logic, but i still need to confirm wherther dead band is need. if not , why and how did 8312 avoid vertical conduct by high side and low side FETs?
