CCS/TMS320F280049: How Stack Usage of CCS judge for making color bar(Yellow, green and so on)

Hello Support team.

Customer is using Stack Usage feature of CCS.

Then customer confirmed that some “Inclusive Stack” are yellow bar.

On other E2E thread, Yellow bar means that “The yellow is a warning that indicated that you are close to the limit of available stacks space while green indicates that you are not.”

Customer confirmed that this yellow bar indicates 106 (byte) even though stack size is 512 byte.

Customer wants to know which variable this Stack Usage uses to determine the maximum stack size.

Also Customers want to know how Stack Usage of CCS determines "Yellow bar" from both using stack size and maximum stack size.

I really appreciate you to give support.

Customer checked the pop-up window by hover over the yellow bar.

Then the below pop-up window is shown.

118 out 11i bytes used(100%)

Then they confirmed stack size limitation as the below method.

“Project -> Properties -> Build -> C2000 Linker -> Basic Options

Then

“Set C system stack size (--stack_size, -stack)”

The value is 0x200.

In this case, we think that stack size is 0x200(0x200 words).

Which value is used for pop-up window ? (In this case, it is 118 even though stack size is 0x200 words).

Koro-san,

I have been studying the Stack Usage view and I believe that there is a bug with how the information is displayed. Instead of providing a percentage based on of the total system stack size (118/512 - 23%), it is showing a percentage based on the wcs (worst case stack) from the function with the highest wcs in the generated static call graph.

This looks like a bug, hence i would ignore the color indicators in the view for now. I'll confirm this and file a bug if it is the case.
