TMS320F2801: About sampling the same signal using different ADCs

Part Number: TMS320F2801

Hello everyone

Can you tell me what is the advantage of giving the same signal to different ADC pins and sampling.

two adc pins are in two adc modules, for example one input is ADC A1 and other one is ADC B1.
What is the purpose of this redundant measurement. Is it some kind of  noise filtering technique??

Thank you
damith

  • Are you asking in the context of a specific example project you're looking at or just in general? Are they being sampled simultaneously or at different times?

One example I can think of would be to do redundant conversions and compare their results as a diagnostic. If the two results differ too much it indicates there's a problem which could be important to detect in a system where safety is a concern.
