TMS320F2802: DSP clk configuration in c2000-GANG

Part Number: TMS320F2802
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000-GANG

Hi team,

Here is a problem I met when supporting customer flash F2802 with C2000-Gang.

1. When they use production tool board with 20Mhz oscillator to flash F2802, if they select 20Mhz DSP clock, an error would happen:

Error 70: DSP CLK frequency error

If they select 40Mhz, the device can be flashed. But if they try to flash the device again, it would show:

Error 69: DSP Firmware start;

Error 70: DSP CLK frequency error

2. If they use the same board and flash the device with CCS, everything runs well.

3. When they use official PCB board also with 20Mhz oscillator to flash F2802, if they select 20Mhz DSP clock, the error never happened.

Any idea what is happening here? What does the DSP clk in C2000-GUI represent? And what is the right value to set?

Regards,

Brian

  • Hi Brian,

I'll need to get back to you about this. Hope to have a better answer to provide soon.

    Best,

    Kevin

    Edit:

It may be related to the F2802x PLL configuration. Below from C2000-GANG User's Guide:

    ERR_DSP_PLL_FREQ,"DSPCLK frequencyerror",

  • Brian,

Does the GANG 2000 GUI fill in the check box after customer places the 20MHz value for OSC.  Have them just do an erase operation and see if this fills in with the PLL value, etc.

I'd also make sure they visit Elprotronics website and download the latest FW for the GANG 2000

    Best,

    Matthew
