TMS320F280049C: CLA memory access

Part Number: TMS320F280049C

Hi C2000 experts,

I would like to know why 280049 has 2 different type of memory ?

a. CLA message memory

b. Local Shared RAM

Since Local Shared RAM could be accessed by CPU & CLA.

Why do we need CLA message memory which is only one direction for CPU or CLA?

Thanks,

  • Kevin,

CLA-CPU message RAMs are small block of RAMs provided for passing the messages between CLA and CPU. You are right that same thing can be done using LSxRAM but those are 4KB RAMs and if user need to enable any protection for safety purpose then it'll apply to full 4KB RAM block which may not be needed.

    Hope that helps.
