TMS320F28374S: Implementation of CTI-20 pin header with the TMS320F28374S

Part Number: TMS320F28374S

Hi,

I'm considering using the TMS320F28374S.
I'm looking to minimize the size of the JTAG header.
Is it possible to use CTI-20 pin instead of TI-14 pin to connect directly to the XDS110?

Best Regards,
H.U

  • Hi,

That should not be an issue at all, as the 20-pin header has some additional pins that can be ignored and you can connect it directly without an adapter to 110.

I will nevertheless request one of our board design experts to confirm the same as well.

  • H.U,

The XDS110 supports the TI-20 pin, and comes with the adapter to convert to the TI-14 pin header.

The TI-20 pin header is smaller than the TI-14 pin header because the pin pitch is smaller, it will work better for a size constrained system.

If you were extremely size constrained you could look into adapting the XDS110 to another smaller pin out, or even alternative ways of programming your device like UART or CAN, which the F2837x devices support.

For most systems I recommend using the TI-20 pin header. It has lots of extra features  compared to a CAN boot loader which can help with debugging but yet still has a small footprint.

    Regards,
    Cody
