Greetings,

I have a question about the behavior of the edge detection capabilities which are controlled by the CLB_INPUT_FILTER register. When one of the edge detection values is programmed, and the appropriate edge occurs, is the output a single pulse? In other words, if a signal, which is basically DC but has a single edge in it occurs, will the output of the synchronizer (input to the tile) be a pulse to indicate that the edge occurred?

You are correct, the edge detection logic will output one pulse for each level change

Thanks Peter,

And will the edge detection generate a pulse from the incoming signal with any phase shift compared to the CLB clock, or does the signal on which the edge is being detected need to be synchronized with the CLB clock?

Ed,

The edge detection will generate a pulse synchronized with the CLB clock. No further synchronization with the CLB clock is needed.

Good information. Thank you Peter. This describes the output side of the edge detector. But on the input side, can the circuit handle any phase relationship between the edge of the incoming signal and the CLB clock?

Ed,

On the input side the incoming edge can be asynchronous to the CLB clock (any phase will work)
