[FAQ] Identifying license terms for C2000 Software

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE, CONTROLSUITE

Q: Where is C2000Ware, C2000ware Motor Control SDK, or C2000Ware Digital Power SDK license information?

In the root directory of C2000Ware, C2000ware Motor Control SDK, or C2000Ware Digital Power SDK, there is a manifest file. The manifest lists all of the licenses for the content within the software package.

Examples:

  • C:/ti/c2000/C2000Ware<version>/C2000Ware_<version>_manifest.html
  • C:/ti/c2000/C2000Ware_MotorControl_SDK_<version>/C2000Ware_MotorControl_SDK_3_00_01_00_manifest.html

The licenses include:

  • TI Commercial: This content falls under the click-wrap license that was accepted when downloading the software package.
  • BSD-Clause 3: This is a standard open source license
  • 3rd party licenses: Any content from 3rd parties is identified and the license cited in the manifest.

Q: Where can I find ControlSUITE license information?

For baseline SW like math libraries, flash API, device_support examples, refer to the C2000Ware/SDK license.  This is the latest license and in some cases SW has been moved from TI commercial to BSD-clause3.

For software not included in C2000Ware or the SDKs, the manifest for each component is found in the root directory of that component.

For example: C:\ti\controlSUITE\libs\math\CLAmath\v<version>CLA Math Library_v<version>_manifest.html

Licenses include TI Commercial, BSD-Clause 3 and 3rd party licenses, as described in the previous question.

Q: What about F281x and F280x software?  It is not in the packages mentioned above.

For these devices, the license will be in the click-wrap accepted for the software when it was installed.  Examples include the F281x Flash API.
