TMDSCNCD28388D: Cannot find MDIO pins

Hi, 

I am looking for ENET_MDIO_CLK and ENET_MDIO_DATA pins for connecting external PHY transceiver. In the datasheet, they are suggested to be configured in GPIO 42 and 43. For 176 Pin version, they are marked as 130 and 131. But when I checked TMDSCNCD2838x_RevB_180cCard_Pinout document, I can not find these two pins. Could you suggest what pins I should use? Thanks.

    Hi Cheng,

    Please go through Table 15-9 in f2838x TRM SPRUII0B for all the possible pin muxing available. In TMDSCNCD28388D the ENET_MDIO_CLK and ENET_MDIO_DATA  are muxed to GPIO 105 and 106 respectively and are internally tied to the PHY. So they are not available to outside pinout. 

    For more ENET pin muxing information in TMDSCNCD28388D  go through cm_common_config_c28x.c in C2000Ware or the schematic of TMDSCNCD28388D (MCU063B(002)_Sch).

    Thanks for the information. Does that mean it's not possible to connect an external PHY to 28388D?

    Cheng,

    If you are asking about the F2838x Control Card TMDSCNCD28388D, it already has an external PHY and you cannot connect another one as it does not have necessary pin out for that. 

    The silicon package TMS320F28388D does not come with a PHY. You would have to connect it to an external phy using any of the pins that i have mentioned in the previous reply.
