Do this control card support can communication. This controller has pins CANTX and CANRX? Are these same as CANH and CANL pins or do I need to connect a CAN Transiever with CANTX and CANRX?

sHi Raj,
The TMSCNCD28388D Control Card doe not have a built-in transceiver. You would need to identify CANRX and CANTX pins to use from the docking board and connect these to a CAN transceiver to produce the differential signals CANL and CANH that will interface with the CAN bus.

Joseph
Raj,
Please download my Application report http://www.ti.com/lit/sprace5. It has many tested examples. I strongly urge you to look at the Debug tips provided. Most CAN issues can be resolved by going through this checklist.
Application report http://www.ti.com/lit/spracq3 depicts lot of easy to understand waveforms and also provide a tool to introduce error at a chosen bit location.
The TRM chapter explains the CAN protocol implementation in the MCU. i.e. it explains the function of registers/bits. However, it does not explain the protocol itself. For protocol information, refer to these excellent videos:
Here is a list of available CAN books:
