TMS320F28379D: Detecting Duty Cycle of Square Wave Fan Tachometer Output

Part Number: TMS320F28379D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Hello,

I have a 0 - 3.3V digital square wave output from a fan tachometer that I want to read in with the TMS320F28379D microcontroller.  The duty ratio of the square wave fan tachometer output is a constant 50% and the duty cycle varies as a function of fan speed.  So I what I want to detect with the microcontroller is the duty cycle of the square wave.

Can I use one of the GPIO pins of the microcontroller for this purpose?  Is there any example in C2000Ware that discusses detecting the duty cycle of a digital input to the MCU?

Thanks,

Kevin
