Star/ triangle connected PMSM in FOC control

Hello there,

A question comes to me recently is this: all the documentation from TI are talking star connected PMSM all the time. What's gonna happen if the same algorithm applied to a motor with triangle connected PMSM?

I know there is an Y-Δ transform out there, but it's good to resistor network, as far as I know. Is it still good to 3phase motors?

best,

  • Hi Yuncheng,

    I'm asking the same question with regard to FOC implemented for a three-phase asynchronous motor.

    All the documents I have seen so far deal only the case of windings star-connected: in that is easy to measure

    the phase currents because coincident to the line currents easily measurable with a resistive shunt;

    The same thing can not be said however if windings are delta-connected... I would like to know

    how to derive the phase currents known  the line currents...
