TMS370C742A - Struggling to find tools to read/program these old MCU's but have legacy system to support

Hello all,

I have an ancient (circa 1997) embedded system to provide support/reverse engineering for. We at least need to be able to copy the programmed MCU to make backups. Original dev kit is long lost.

It is based around the TMS370C742A MCU. So far I have a Stag gang programmer that should work to copy the micro but no user guide for it. Stag seem to be out of business so getting the guide from them isn't going to happen. I've googled but to no avail.

Now I'm thinking I may need to improvise a programmer for this chip using other embedded kit but would of course need the programming algorithm / programming specification for TMS370C to do this. All i have gleaned so far from the datasheet is that applying 13.2v to the 'MC' pin will enable programming of the EPROM program memory but no further instruction/advice on which pins to clock/data and what the commands/protocols are.

Maybe you know of an available programmer that supports this device?

Maybe you have a lead on getting hold of Stag Programmer User Guide? Scratch that, just had a play with the Stag and it doesn't appear to support this particular device including lacking hardware modules for it.

Maybe you have a lead on getting the programming specification of the TMS370C ?

Any suggestions welcome.
