Is Delfino 28335 recommended for new design?

Hi All,

I am currently using the Delfino 28335 for a power controller product.  We are in the middle of a redesign effort to add new features and system improvements.  The question was brought up regarding the typical lifetime and support for these microcontrollers.

With the new dual core Delfino's coming out soon as well as the available faster 2834x series, is the 28335 still OK for a design that will need to be supported for the next 5 years?

    Hung,

    We are very excited about our new dual-core Delfino F2837xD devices but we do not have plans to EOL the current F2833x family.  We ship many of these units to customers and we plan to continue supporting this for many more years. 

    (FYI, we still support our LF240x devices which have been NRND for a few  years!  TI has a no obsolence policy which states that we will not obsolete a device out of conveneince.  We know our customers both large and small depend on us manufacturing products which were designed into systems years ago and we are committed to doing so).

    Hi All,

    I am again, going through a design refresh of our inverter control boards. We are considering the upgrade to the Delfino F2837xD devices. With the price point of the older device, what are the reasons why one would use the F28335 over the F2837x? It seems like an upgrade in all respects. Is the F28335 still recommended for new designs?
