XDS100v2 and Isolation

Hi,

I am trying to use XDS100v2 JTAG Debugger (Spectrum Digital) on custom F28069 board. I have isolated jtag headers on board but I've missed TVRef pin function on debugger side.

What do you offer for fix 3.3V voltage reference for TVRef on debugger side to programming board? For this configuration I got stuck on power-loss problem. I want to set TVRef to 3.3V and preserve isolation barrier. Does it make sense to soldering TVRef pin to 3.3V pad on the backplane of the debugger?

Is the 3.3V pad isolated from the rest of the board? If yes then why not!

Hi Mehmet,

That is one option.

Another option is to use something like a TI DCP020503P to take 5V from one side of the isolation boundary and generate 3.3V for the emulation side. This DC/DC could then provide power for VTREF (as well as power for the emulator side of your isolators - which also probably needs to get powered too).

Thanks for your suggestions.

I've soldered 3.3V on the bottom plane to TVRef as picture I attached. Emulator power is just powering the emulator side of the isolation so I dont think there would be insufficient powering problem. If another problem occurs, I would try Brett's answer.
