TIDM-1001: Compensation Designer. Basic Theory.

Part Number: TIDM-1001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SFRA

Hi.

I am using SFRA & Compensation Designer to calculate coefficiennts for control loop in LLC converter.

For calculate coefficients for 2p2z controller, it is need to enter pole and zero values, along with Kdc parameter.
The problem is i don't know what values its has to be. I know, that it is relevant to automatic control theory, but there is a lot of mathematics. A little hard to understand and start with it.
Is there any ti brochure to explain basic params like this.
There is no explanation about it in sfra documentaion either.

Thanks.

  • Hi Igor,

You can find a lot of information in the power or control literature, but you are right; it can be quite complicated.

There is a seminar recording on this site which you might like to review:
    sites.google.com/.../control-theory-fundamentals-seminar

See the "Part 2: Feedback Control" video, from about half way, for an example of compensator tuning with pole & zero frequencies. There is also a brief tutorial write-up which you can download from that page.

This is just a general suggestion, not specifically about the LLC reference design in the thread title. Others may have have additional suggestions, but anyway I hope it helps.

    Regards,

    Richard
