TMS320F28335: XDS200 intermittent failure

Part Number: TMS320F28335

Hello all,

I'm working with an XDS200 debug probe, and have been for a while now, all on the same hardware. However, intermittently, the XDS200 will stop functioning and throw the error "Error connecting to the target: (Error -1135 @ 0x0) The debug probe reported an error. Confirm debug probe configuration and connections, reset the debug probe, and retry the operation. (Emulation package 9.1.1.00002)"

Nothing has changed on the hardware I'm working with, and this error persists even when I swap to a separate, unwired eZdsp board, so it is unlikely that the F28335 is the problem.

As for information, the debug probe left LED (left of the ribbon), lights up when plugged in. When trying to program, the right LED also lights up briefly, before both LEDs go out and the error above shows up. The only way I've found to "fix" it is to leave the debugger and board disconnected from power for a period of time (~1hr+), then try again. Most of the time, it starts working again and has no problems for a while.

Any idea what could be causing this? Is the debug probe just bad, even after only <1 month of use? I've had this happen to another debug probe after using it for 6+ months and am wondering what is going on.
