TMS320F280049C: Sensorless BLDC Motor with InstaSPIN-FOC

Part Number: TMS320F280049C

Hi,

I am Working on the Steering Pump Motor Application.

Need a confirmation that Sensor-less BLDC Motor with InstaSPIN-FOC method is possible or not.

Please provide the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Sensor-less BLDC Motor with InstaSPIN-FOC method.

Here, Sensor-less means that without HALL Sensor Signals(A,B,C) from BLDC Motor,  Is my understanding is correct or not.

Thanks,

Krishna.

  • Sensorless BLDC is typically HALL sensorless. InstaSPIN FOC gives sinusoidal control treating the motor like a PMSM. If you are looking at sinusoidal control instead of 6 step control, this works well. Suitability of sensorless control for the target application is the choice the designer will have to make.

6 step control is audibly noisier, there could be momentary torque ripples, motor size could be bigger for same power, control is easier.

With InstaSPIN-FOC, it is less noisier, minimal torque ripples, higher power output for size, control is complex.
