TMS320F280025C: Only external reference mode is supported for the temperature sensor???

Part Number: TMS320F280025C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE,

Hello support team,

I found a confused comment "Only external reference mode is supported for the temperature sensor." in

C2000Ware_3_04_00_00\driverlib\f28002x\driverlib\adc.h

But the example project "C2000Ware_3_04_00_00\driverlib\f28002x\examples\adc\adc_ex3_temp_sensor.c" is configurated with internal reference.

Please confirm that whether the information "Only external reference mode is supported for the temperature sensor" is correct. This is not specified in RM or DS.

Regards,

Nguyen

  • Hi Nguyen,

The ADC temperature results for the device have been tested for the external reference and the necessary calibration parameters for external reference are present in the TI OTP locations. The TMS320F280025C datasheet contains the test condition and results for the temperature sensor.

You can use the internal reference as well but the calibration parameters have not been validated for this device and you may see some difference in the temperature when working with internal reference and external reference.

As far as the example is concerned, to showcase the use of temperature sensor, the reference is set as internal but you can change it to external for your purpose.

    Thanks,

    Aditya
