TMDS570LS31USB: how to build a can bus network with two instances of TMDS570LS31USB?

Part Number: TMDS570LS31USB

Hi there,

I see that TMDS570LS31USB has a single CAN transceiver. And I have two TMDS570LS31USB.

So, I was thinking that I could hook up these two dev kits to have a CAN bus network.

What sort of cable do I need? a regular can bus cable?

And how do I connect the CAN transceivers to the can bus cable? What wire to what pin?

Since I don't have EE background, I am struggling to figure this out.

Is there any easier way ?

thank you in advance,

  • Hello,

The CAN header on USB stick has 3 pins: CAN_H, CAN_L, and GND. If you want to make 2 CAN nodes to communicate, the two nodes should be hooked up as:

    1. CAN_H to CAN_H
    2. CAN_L to CAN_L
    3 GND to GND

If for lab use or testing, any general wire should work. If for product, please use the cable which meets the spec of SAE J1939.
