TMS570LC4357-EP: Design Compatibility with Epson Display Controller (S1D13513F01A100)

Hello Team,

We are using TMS controller(TMS570LC4357-EP). We have some doubts.

1.)We are interfacing the TMS controller with Epson Display controller (S1D13513F01A100) through EMIF interface. In epson display controller datasheet it is given as ADDR[21] can be used to connect to M/R` pin. This M/R` is used to select between Display buffer and Register address space. Kindly confirm the use of EMIF_ADDR[21] for M/R` pin of display controller.

2.) There are 2 Read enables for display controller but TMS controller have only one (EMIF_RNW-J1 pin), Can we use GIO's for the purpose.

Now the design is in proto stage. Shortly will complete the schematics.

Hello Vikas,

Yes, you can use a GIO pin to manually control the display selection.

2.) Interrupt request(INT1`) from Display controller can be given to General purpose Interrupt in TMS controller(GIOA[0]: External Interrupt).

3.)EMIF_ADDR[21] of TMS controller can be used to connect to M/R` pin of display controller.

Kindly clarify these doubts.

If the display controller has RD/WR signals, then you need to use OE and WE signals from EMIF. RNW is not needed in this case. RNW is for device which does not have separate RD and WR signal.

GIOA[7:0] and GIOB[7:0] support external input interrupt. You can use any GIO pin for INT1.
