TMS570LS0232: TMS570 minimal programming interface requirements

Part Number: TMS570LS0232

Please can someone point me to documentation defining the minimal interface requirements for initial software programming of a TMS570LS0232.  Also, what are the minimal JTAG requirements for emulation?  Is it possible to get the pin count down to a 10 pin Tag-connect header? (e.g. single 3.3V, single 0V reference, EMU0 and EMU1 combined as one pin)

My understanding is that a 14 pin connector is required to interface with a JTAG / programming tool to allow initial flash programming on a PCB.  Are all 14 pins required, and what are the pull-up / pull-down requirements. If I'm programming only, do I need anything more than the 7 JTAG connections (Test, TMS, TDI, TDO, TCK, RTCK and nTRST) plus 0V reference?

  • Part of the answer depends on which scan controller (emulator) you plan to use. The TMS570LS0232 requires TMS, TDI, TDO, TCK, nTRST and a GND reference. The scan controller will probably also require RTCK and a 3.3V reference. Test is not required, but should be pulled low on your board. EMU0 and EMU1 are typically not required.
