Issue while connecting Spectrum Digital XDS-220 Emulator to Host PC/Network using Ethernet for debugging TMS570LS3137 in CCS.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS3137

Hi,

We are trying to connect XDS-220 Spectrum Digital Emulator (which we are using for loading and debugging TMS570LS3137 controller thru CCS) using Ethernet cable.

Currently, XDS-220 emulator is being used by connecting USB cable to Host PC.

The reason behind this requirement is to connect target controller from network and to avoid connectivity issues with USB cable.

Hence, we tried connecting in below ways :

1. XDS-220 (Spectrum Digital) Emulator is connected to PC using USB cable (for power) and Ethernet cable (for data transfer – JTAG)

2. XDS-220 (Spectrum Digital) Emulator is connected to PC using USB cable (for power) and connected to Network using Ethernet cable (for data transfer – JTAG)

Used the below options to set/fetch/configure IP address of the emulator connected

1.Invoked “xds2xx_conf.exe” with a specific command in command prompt but couldn’t fetch valid IP address of the device.

2. Used “Sd560v2Cnfg v5” application to identify the Ethernet devices but couldn’t identify the connected emulator (using “eth” and “eth advanced” tabs)

We followed the instructions mentioned in XDS-220 Installation manual but couldn't fulfill the requirement.

I am aware that XDS-220 emulator belongs to Spectrum Digital but since, we use it for TI controllers and CCS, I would like to have some guidance on how to setting up IP address and connect to the device for debugging and loading using Code Composer Studio.

Can you try unplugging and replugging the USB cable to power cycle the XDS220 while the ethernet is connected? I originally saw the same issue you did and toggling the cable resolved the issue for me.

    Thanks

  • Hi Ki,

Can you please tell me the exact way of configuring IP address to the Emulator.

    Thanks for your response firstly.

  • An IP address should get assigned to the emulator via your network.

Make sure you have connected the emulator directly to the same network as your PC (not even through a router), and the DHCP server (or a set of static IP addresses) are correctly configured.
  • Hello,
I haven’t heard back from you, I’m assuming you were able to resolve your issue. If not, please post a reply with an update below (or create a new thread).

    thanks,
