MSP430F47183: Not able to program MSP from IAR embedded workbench

Hello,

I am working with a new msp430 and I am trying to debug the device from IAR embedded workbench using the MSP-FET430UIF debug interface. When I try launching the debugger I am getting a fatal error device not found. I have the correct MSP part number selected in the project options. Also I have verified that the debugger and cable for the debugger work. I have never ran into this issue with any other msp430's that I worked with. I was wondering if anyone had any advice?

Hello Matt,

First, check your schematic and be sure that it matches with figure 2-1 in the guide below, especially J1/J2 depending on whether you are powering the target externally or using the FET to power the target.

Eddie,

I have looked over the figure and yes the correct connections are being made from the debugger to the MSP. Also just to give so more information I was able to read and flash to the msp using an Elprotronic flash reader and writer. but trying to do the same thing using the texas instruments MSP-FET430UIF does not work.

Just as an updated the issue has been solved. After a closer look at the hardware it was determined that the incorrect reset circuit was being used on the reset pin for the programmer.
