MSP430F5259: How do I get backchannel UART working with MSP-FET and IAR?

I'm using an MSP-TS430RGC64C board and IAR with the F5259 MCU. How do I get access to the backchannel UART? I've seen code examples in the Resource Explorer, but I don't even know which MCU device I would be talking to, and it wasn't clear to me from the MSP-TS430RGC64C schematic. Thanks very much.

Hello Richard,

Backchannel UART requires the UART pins to be connected to the JTAG header(pin 12 and 14). The schematic for the target socket board can be found in figure B-54 of the hardware users guide below where you can see that the UART pins are not connected to the JTAG header. You could still access the UART from the headers surrounding the sockets, but to get the backchannel to the PC through the MSP-FET, you would need to connect the UART to your JTAG cable or header as well.
