MSP430G2553: Determining how much RAM is available

Part Number: MSP430G2553

I am transitioning from the MSP432P401R, where I had RAM to burn, to the above mentioned MCU, with only 512 bytes.

Is there a way to tell how much is left to me after the system inits itself?

Look at the size of the data and bss sections. These are located in RAM and allocated from the bottom up. The stack starts at the top and it is up to you to decide how much space that requires.

Just what file contains the data and bss info?

Yeah, I am asking to see how much stack space I will be left with.

It probably isn't in a file. With GCC I use the program size (msp430-elf-size). Or occasionally I have the linker output a map file but that has a lot of detail.
