MSP430F2011: IAR to CCS

Part Number: MSP430F2011
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hi team,

My customer has an existing product using the MSP430F2011 that originally developed the firmware for using IAR’s Embedded WorkBench IDE. They have done all new development on TI parts with Code Composer Studio, but porting from IAR to CCS is not a trivial effort and would require re-vetting the ported code.

Their programming procedure for a product calls for using the full IAR IDE to load the code via the ez430 USB debugger interface, which uses only the reset pin and Test pin on the MSP device.

This approach has its drawbacks, but mainly that there is no programming verification for the personnel in production that do this task.

What they would like to be able to do, as they have with some other MCUs, is use some kind of standalone programmer such as our LM Flash Programmer (now obsolete) or UniFlash that can read the reference binary from a working unit, save to local machine, then load said binary or hex image directly into the MCU.

They have been successfully using the above procedure with both programming apps on the TIVA-based products using a TIVA-based launchpad interface, but Uniflash doesn’t appear to recognize the TI ez430 F2013 USB development tool.

Could you recommend a launchpad type device that would be supported in Uniflash that would also support the F2011 target?

Thanks,
Connie

  • Hi Connie,

For MSP430F2011, I can find this device on the Uniflash support list. However, I could not find related launchpad on that support list. So Ithink it shoul be ok for the Uniflash to support F2011 device but not any launch pad.

    Best regards,

    Cash Hao
