MSP430G2553: Error initializing emulator

Part Number: MSP430G2553
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430G2, MSP-EXP430G2ET

Hi Team,

May I ask for your help? Our customer encounter this problem below:
"I downloaded the ccs on an ubuntu system
when i connect my msp430 it doesn't show
using the identify button

i just added a screenshot of the problem i have
when i connect the TI msp430G and try to identify it that pops up."

Then we refer to this E2E post but doest not help us solving this problem:
(+) CCS/MSP430G2553: Error initializing emulator: No USB FET was found - MSP low-power microcontroller forum - MSP low-power microcontrollers - TI E2E support forums

I hope you can help us with this.

Kind regards,
Gerald

  • Hi Gerald,

Does your system recognize the device is plugged in, can you check the Ubuntu equivalent to "device manager" and check that the device is showing there.

If it does show up make sure the correct device is selected in the CCS project. Go the Properties -> CCS General, Then under the project tab, under device, the variant should have the MSP430G2553 device selected.

    Regards,

    Luke

Is the customer using a MSP-EXP430G2?

The old MSP-EXP430G2 isn't supported under Linux, but the newer MSP-EXP430G2ET is.

See the list of Supported and Not Supported Debug Probes in the Linux Host Support CCSv10.
