I'd like to include an MSP430 in a prototype for evaluation. Seems like the right combination of features and cheap too, for the unit I'm looking at. I'm working on the schematic, and I have the pinout and all, buuttt...
Everywhere TI mentions the JTAG connector, they don't outright say it's a 0.1" pitch or 2mm pitch connector. From pictures it looks like a 0.1" 2x7 header.
Example: "Connection between the 14-pin cable and the MSP debug port is commonly handled by placing a standardized 14-pin header connector on the target board and routing the necessary emulation signals to their respective debug pins. This method provides software developers with a simple, in-system debug model."
Standardized? Everybody has their own implementation of this. JTAG doesn't spec a connector.
In the MSP-FET user's guide, section 5.6.5.1 JTAG Target Connector, that would be a good place to indicate that. But, there is a schematic symbol only.
In the MSP-FET schematic, I found a grainy part number. Molex Connector Part Number - 70247-1451 This is a 0.1" header.
Can someone who has an MSP-FET confirm that the JTAG connector is 0.1" and TI doesn't really mention that anywhere obvious?
