MSP430F6725: the EMC performance of F672x

Part Number: MSP430F6725
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F6726, MSP430F6724

Hello,Xiadong Li

Please tell me additional information.
Is the EMC performance of F672x the same for the same package?

Best regards,
DDdoor

  • Hi,

EMC performance is a system level parameters. There is no EMC information of device level.

  • Hello,Allen Gao,

    Thanks for your reply.

In the past,I received the following answer from E2E staff.
So the customer is looking for the same answer.
Is the EMC performance of MSP430F6726 and MSP430F672x the same if they are in the same package?

Due to lack of availability of the device, the customer is considering replacing it with MSP430F672x.
they need to consider whether EMC testing is required again.

When the customer just replaces MSP430F6726 with MSP430F672x, is EMC testing required?

    ・MSP430F6724: EMC performance
    >In case the same package, MSP430F6726 and MSP430F6724 EMC performance should be the same.

    Best regards,
    DDdoor

  • Hi

Actually, they are the same package. You can replace MSP430F6726 from the function level as you descripted using F672x in the same package. As for EMC I can't not guarantee whether or not EMC testing is needed. As I told before, there is no EMC parameter for device, so it is hard to evaluate how much influence it will take to the board between devices.

  • Hello,Allen Gao

    Thanks for your reply.

They understood about not being able to guarantee it.
You can guess. Could you please answer my question?
My customer's product with MSP430F6726 has passed EMC test,
if they change MSP430F6726 to MSP430F672x,
do you think it will pass EMC test?
Of course, they will not change any other components.

    Best regards,
    DDdoor

  • If they use the same package(Pin to Pin solution), I guess it could pass EMC test. But it still exist risk of failure.

If they change the layout due to the different package, the field of electronic and magnet  will change. It hard to forecast the EMC performance of the system.
