EVM430-F6779: Doubt in programming of ports

Part Number: EVM430-F6779
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F67791A

Hello,

I was working on the program generated using the energy measurement design center and tried compiling it in ccs. I didn't understand how the lcd is being programmed as I couldn't see any values being fed to the lcd. I did find lcd programs in driverlib folder but these seemed to be the initializations of lcd i.e to enable lcd and defining lcd functions (isn't it ?).

So what my point is that I actually don't want this 160 segment lcd for my application and would using a 16x2 lcd for my application. I did try programming this 16x2 lcd separately and the lcd did work in that way but when I tried to compile both programs, the lcd is not working (I guess mainly because different type of port initializations ?). How should I create an output port in this case and turn an LED ON just for example to understand?

Also I tried the emdc software by ti but it was not able to  show and evaluate results but HID bridge showed 'connected' message.

Attaching my evm programs.

Thanks

Avinash
