MSP430F67791: The emulator cannot connect to the device

Hi team,

Issue: Debugging the MSP430F1XX chip with the FET430UIF is normal, but the device is never connected when debugging the MSP430F67791 (REV A). The emulation software is the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE (5.60.5). Common components (6.6.4.2867). The customer would like to know what's the reason for that.

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

First double check the HW connections in the schematic to make sure they are valid. See Figure 2-1 and Figure 2-3 in the MSP Hardware User Guide, depending on JTAG connection type.

Beyond that I would have them try to connect to the device utilizing CCS or CCS cloud as well. That being said, they are using an older version of IAR, and the old MSP-FET430UIF programmer which is no longer supported in the newest version of CCS. It may work though. Otherwise an upgrade may be due to the MSP-FET.

Oh, I just tried debugging a MSP430F6736 using a MSP-FET430UIF with CCS 11.0.0.00012 under Linux, which was successful.

I.e. the MSP-FER430UIF still seems to be supported by the latest CCS.

The MSP-FET430UIF is still listed in the list of CCS 11 Supported Debug Probes.

Hey Chester,

The older MSP Debugger may still work, but we are no longer testing or supporting it.
