MSP-EXP430F5529LP: not enumerating ports

Part Number: MSP-EXP430F5529LP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430FR4133

no ports enumerated, win10, ccs 10, both updated, or win7, ccs 10 (separated machine) trying to debug msp-exp430f5529lp or msp-exp430fr4133.    No USB FET was found and no comports enumerated in device manager.

  • Hi Wally,

Is this the first time using the Launchpad, ie., is it new, or has it worked in the past and now it is not responding?

  • these devices are more than a year old and have been used before with minimum problems

  • Hi Wally,

Ok, just to confirm, when either one is plugged into the PC with the device manager open, you don't see Windows activity detecting a USB device and refreshing OR updating the device manager window (the usual process Windows goes through when attaching a USB device)?

On the MSP-EXP430F5229 LP, if this is true and the green LED (near USB connector) is on, its possible the  TUSB2046 USB HUB device located on the launchpad is faulty.  But the MSP-EXP430FR4133 doesn't have the device, so I'm not sure what's up with that one.

To better understand the background, is the Win10 and Win7 PC the same ones used in the past successfully and if so, did you perform any updates/upgrades/changes recently?

When CCS is installed, the appropriate drivers are automatically installed so I would rule that out.

Here is my favorite question - did you try a different USB cable?

  • Hi Wally,

It's been a while since we have heard from you, so I'm going to assume you were able to move forward with your project.
