From the reference design of the battery management system given above. I found from the datasheet of the controller that it doesn't have CAN controller in it, still, the schematic diagram shows the CAN connection between the controller and the ISO transceiver. The PINs which are connected to the TXD and RXD of the transceiver don't have any CAN features.

Hi,

TIDA-010030 doesn't support CAN communication because MSP430FR2155 doesn't integrate CAN controller. The reason I put CAN transceiver is to demonstrate TI CAN transceiver performance and system power consumption with CAN transceiver. Then if CAN is necessary, users only need to change MCU directly.

So, the CAN connections you have shown in the schematic diagram is to basically demonstrate the CAN functionality only?

What might be the suitable MCU for the CAN communication for this schematic diagram without changing other functionality?

You are right of the CAN connections.

If you are looking for a MCU with CAN, I think TI C2000 family might be suitable.
