MSP430FR2522: Using JTag and Uart port

Part Number: MSP430FR2522

Hi

I am looking to use this processor for a project that would require a UART, as the 2 UARTS on device are shared with ether external crystal or the JTAG connection I would have to ether run the UART baudrate generator from the DCO (ideal baudrate will be 115200) so I could use the UART or share the UART and JTAG connection.

I would prefer to have an external crystal which would mean sharing the UART and JTAG port, how would this operate when debugging would this mean I could not debug the UART?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Matt

  • SBW should use only TEST and RESET pin on target device, and all TI LP's are based on eZ_FET SBW interface.

I don't see any point in using full JTAG connection with FRAM devices.

Even if FR2xx target device become locked by erratic firmware or JTAG fuse, it can be fully recovered (mass erased to factory state) by SBW.
