Hi Team,

Table 6-1 of the datasheet of MSP430F5521 shows that the differences with MSP430F5525, MSP430F5527 and MSP430F5529 are the size of the flash and SRAM memories. Our customer would like to confirm if they can transition their design from MSP430F5521IPN to any of MSP430F5525, MSP430F5527, MSP430F5529 without having to make changes other than possibly recompiling for new target device.

Hi Danilo,

The customer should be fine with any of these choices. The only thing to note is the F5525 has less RAM compared to F5521.

Thanks for the response. It is too generic and doesn't quite answer my specific question: What I need to know, please, is that code developed for the smallest flash part will compile into and run on all the others as long as I respect the SRAM limit.

Hi Danilo,

Sorry for not responding sooner. Yes, these devices are within the same family so the code will compile and execute on all. Did the customer settle on a particular one? Since their selections are all 80-pin and from the same family, they should be all pin-pin compatible. If the customer wants to be triple-sure, they can order samples and solder to their PCB and build and run their code to verify first.
