MSP430FR6047: MCU Reset

Part Number: MSP430FR6047

Hi,

Good Day. I have a customer who is working with MSP430FR6047. Please see below his query for your reference. Thank you very much.

I am working with MSP430FRBoot – Main Memory Bootloader and Over-the-Air Updates for MSP430™ FRAM Large Memory Model Devices and I modified it for MSP430FR6047 water meter example. Code is successfully transferred to the target and start to execute the code. But when it enter to the USSLibGUIApp_Init() function MCU got reset. I turned off the watch dog also. I found e2e forum regarding this question but in there they mentioned to turn off the watch dog. I did it too but still reset and go to the bootloader mode.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi,

Based on this description, when the MCU reset, it goes into BSL mode.

However, the default BSL application can be called by the device boot code by applying a hardware entry sequence on the RST and TEST pins. I do not think the customer is applying this hardware sequence when their MCU reset. I would assume that they are using their own bootloader code.

You can let the customer search for the document number SLAA968. It has code examples for a software BSL for MSP430FRxx devices.

    Best regards,

    Cash Hao
