MSP430FR6037: Flow sensing performance and pin to pin compatibility

Hello,

We are planning to switch from MSP430FR6047 to MSP430FR6037. I have noticed that provision USSXT is not present, would that effect the accuracy of the flow sensing in any way? I wasn't able to find the provision to connect the ultrasonic transducers as well (attached image for reference). Is the MCU MSP430FR6037 pin to pin compatible with MSP430FR6047 so I can develop a similar PCB for both. I have the similar doubts with the other ultrasonic MCUs as well like MSP430FR6045, MSP430FR6007, MSP430FR5041.

Hi Prudhvi,

FR6037 don't include USS module:

Why you want switch to FR6037? If duo to the large memory for FR6047, you can try FR6045.

Hello Johnson,

One of the reasons is in the procurement, so we wanted to have some backup units of other compatible MCUs. Thanks for pointing out MSP430FR6045, looks like it serves the application. Can you list any more devices which are compatible with MSP430FR6047.

Hi Prudhvi,

FR6047/FR6045, FR6007/FR6005 keep same pinmap and pin-to-pin.

And those four device can use same code(image).

You can find the different between FR6047/FR6045 and FR6007/FR6005 in the below figure:

Hello Johnson,

Thank you for making things clear for me. Can this also be applied to the family of FR6043/FR6041 and FR5043/FR5041. The best performance seems to be for this family.

Hi Pruhvi,

FR6043/6041, FR5043/FR5041 is not pin-to-pin for FR6047.

FR6043 can cover flow meter and gas meter due to the high accuracy, but the memory only have 64KB.
