MSP430FR2111: MSP430FR2111 in low power mode 4 consume about 5uA and 20uA after running watchdog

Part Number: MSP430FR2111

dear product line engineer.

my customer use MSP430FR2111 in their AED project. customer use internal clock of MSP430FR2111 as system clock. and they use REFOCLK to calibrate system clock. the current that consumed by MSP430FR2111 is 5uA under low power mode 4 then current will large to ~20uA if customer running watchdog. customer think that REFOCLK may affect clock of watchdog or watchdog clock impact REFOCLK after debug, and this cause current enlarge. how to solve this issue? thank you very much!

regards,

Bill

  • An extra 15uA does sound like the REFO running. How is the WDT configured?

Datasheet (SLASE78D) Table 6-1 claims that the WDT doesn't run in LPM4. The debugger can interfere with the lower LPMs. Be sure to use "Free Run"  rather than "Run" if you're measuring current.
