MSP430F67471A: Inquiry about " Unified Clock System" function

Part Number: MSP430F67471A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F67471,

Hi team,

Our customer plans to use MSP430F67471, I received the inquiry about " Unified Clock System" block. According to MSP430F67471's datasheet "5.16 Crystal Oscillator, XT1", there is just only "Low-Frequency Mode". Does this mean that MSP430F67471 does not support Hi-Frequency Mode ? I mean, even if customer set XTS bit to one (High-frequency mod), MSP430 does not work. Can I have your comments on this inquiry, please?

Customer would like to input around 4MHz clock to XIN, if possible.

It will be appreciated if you will clarify this function.

Best regards,

Miyazaki

  • Hi Miyazaki

According to MSP430F67471's datasheet, the typic 32KHz (10-50KHz) crystal can be used on XIN and XOUT. I don't think 4MHz clock can be used on XIN.

On high frequency clock, please consider FLL operation is enabled and XT1CLK is selected as the FLL reference clock

    Thanks!

  • Hi Xiaodong,

    Thank you for your clarification.

I’ll inform MSP430F67471A does not have High-Frequency Mode for XT1. (Since MSP430F51xx has HF mode, to be sure, I wanted to clarify it.)

    Thank you and best regards,

    Miyazaki
