EVM430-FR6043: Could we use MSP430-FR60431 Instead of MSP430-FR6043 on EVM430-FR6043?

Part Number: EVM430-FR6043
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EVM430-FR6047, MSP430FR6047, MSP430FR6043, MSP430FR50431

Hello Tech Team

1.Could we use MSP430-FR60431 Instead of MSP430-FR6043 on EVM430-FR6043?

2.Could we use MSP430-FR6043, MSP430-FR60431 or MSP430-FR60471 on EVM430-FR6047?

Best Regards

  • Hello,

The EVMs are very similar, but geared towards different use cases. The MSP430FR6043 devices are target towards GAS meter applications; while the MSP430FR6047 devices are geared towards WATER meter applications. The devices are very similar, with the USS portion being identical. The EVMs are tailored from an analog front end perspective to their respective use cases. You could make them work for either, but it would be less effort to just get the appropriate EVM.

For your question on MSP430FR6043 and MSP430FR50431, etc. If the device GPN has a '1' at the end, that just means the device comes loaded with an I2C based BSL instead of the standard UART BSL. Beyond this BSL difference, they are identical.
