MSP430F6747A: MSP430F6747A questions...

Part Number: MSP430F6747A

Dear Sirs,

Here are the questions about the MSP430F6747A.

1. My customer perform 6KV Air ESD testing and found the MSP430 will reset.

After checked with register data, it was reset by external!

May I know is there any suggestion to improve this issue for reset pin?

2. The FRAM size for the F6747A is 4 words! Is there any suggestion for larger FRAM size(8 words) solution?

Thanks.

  • Hi Peter,

ESD failures can be due to a number of factors, and can be tricky to troubleshoot. We have a good application report on Troubleshooting ESD Issues with MSP430: https://www.ti.com/lit/slaa932

Also some general System Level ESD design considerations for MSP430 as well: https://www.ti.com/lit/slaa530

Its possible this is due to their layout, their packaging, or how they are applying the ESD.

    2. The FRAM size for the F6747A is 4 words! Is there any suggestion for larger FRAM size(8 words) solution?

The MSP430F6747A is not an FRAM device, the nonvolatile memory is all Flash in these devices. Do you mean the SRAM size? We do have larger flash sizes (up to 512kB) in the same family, but 32kB would be our largest SRAM size for these devices.

    Best Regards,
    Brandon Fisher
