EVM430-FR6047: EVM430-FR6047 clamp-on transducers without amplifiers

Part Number: EVM430-FR6047

I am using EVM430-FR6047 with 1MHz transducers and Clamp-on-V placement for 3/4 PVC pipe. Receive a signal, but it does not give the correct measurements.

Can the FW be adjusted to work with this signal without adding amplifiers?
What is the minimum signal amplitude and offset relative to zero involve for correct operation?
What types and diameters of pipes is it possible to work without amplifiers with Clamp-on-V or Clamp-on-Z?

  • Hi,

The ADC data looks pretty bad to me. The noise level is high and could cause the offset issue when you apply a high PGA setting. Have you ever read this app note before?

"To obtain proper signal levels, the transducers must be aligned and couplant such as ultrasound gel or industrial grease must be placed between the transducers and pipe."

You can read the app note first.

    Best regards,

    Cash Hao
