EVM430-FR6047: About Noise

Part Number: EVM430-FR6047

To whom it may concern,

We are currently using the EVM430-FR6047 to develop and evaluate an ultrasonic water meter.
Do vibrations from cars on the road or ultrasonic waves in a different frequency band from outside the meter affect the measurement as noise?
What other types of noise could affect the measurement?

Also, does the meter have a function to remove noise from the received ultrasonic waveform?

  • Hi Masaki,

Actual, I think vibration will have some affects for ultrasonic water meter, but for cars on road, does you encounter some issue here?

In USS lib, we already did some filter for ADC waveform, this should helpful to restrain those noise, and you can also did some filter or other algorithm for dTOF & AbsTOF if you have some concern.

    Thanks!

  • Hi johnson

    Thank you for your response.

We are concerned that if the water meter is installed underground, facing a road or other location, when large trucks pass by or when construction is taking place nearby, vibrations will be transmitted to the meter, causing the meter to totalize on its own and significantly affect the measurement.

We have received the following response regarding noise filters.
"In USS lib, we already did some filter for ADC waveform, this should be helpful to restrain those noise, and you can also did some filter or other algorithm for dTOF & AbsTOF if you have some concern."

Which part of the document should I check for more details? I would like to know what kind of noise can be removed and on what principle.

  • Hi Masaki,

For vibration noise, I think this will affect the measurement results, after all, the vibration affects the transmission waveform of the ultrasonic wave.

Foe filter for ADC waveform, we don't have more description here.

This solution main focus on resident meter and industrial meter, thus we don't have more research for vibration noise.

    Thanks!
