MSP-TS430RGZ48C: The included chip cannot be debugged with CCS.

Hi experts,

The MSP430FR5969IRGZ enclosed with the MSP-TS430RGZ48C had a Revision of D. Therefore, it could not be debugged in CCS due to the following problem.
https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp-low-power-microcontrollers-group/msp430/f/msp-low-power-microcontroller-forum/366277/ccs-with-new-msp-fet---no-connection-to-msp-after-updating-firmware-this-morning

Is it possible to return the enclosed Rev. D chip and replace it with a Rev. F or later device?

We understand that the device is shipped from an older sample device, but since we cannot evaluate it with the current CCS v12, we would appreciate it if you could tell us about the application procedure if an exchange is possible.

Best regards,
O.H

  • Hello O.H.,

It is advised when ordering MSP-TS430RGZ48C and other MSP430 Target Socket Board style EVMs to also sample the appropriate chip with them. New productions of the boards no longer include a chip, and if the board hasn't been rebuilt recently, they may still contain old chips. It is not advised to use those chips.

  • Hello

Thank you for your reply. I understood.

I did check the notes you pointed out, but we are confused because MSP430FR5969 seems to be included in the "what's included" section.

Other target boards (not all of them, but the FRAM series are covered) basically have a Note at the beginning, so it would be helpful if you could correct it to state it at the beginning in the same way.

    Best regards,
    O.H
