MSP430FR5969-SP: DCO performances post-irradiation

Part Number: MSP430FR5969-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR5969

Good morning.

I have the exact same question of the "parent" thread of this one (which was not really answered):

I have been unable to locate any radiation testing information related to the frequency stability or jitter of the DCO. Is this something that was tested during the TID testing of the device? Is it possible to have information which is specific to the DCO?

Or should I just assume that with the MSP430FR5969-SP being a radiation tolerant device, by definition ALL the parameters in the datasheet will remain within specs up to 50 kRad?

Thanks for the help

Francesco

  • HI,

I checked the design file and I do not think we have tested the DCO performance at any radiation testing.

  • Hi,

    thank you for the answer.

I have to say, I find it a bit non-satisfactory: if the component is supposed to be "Radiation Hardened" I would expect that all the features are equally tested, in some form or another (or it should be marked in the datasheet what exactly is Radiation Hardened and what is not)

In this specific case we are talking about a clock source, so something which is really "fundamental" in relation to the microcontroller operations.

Anyway, I guess we will have to use an external oscillator.

Thanks again or the prompt reply!

  • Hi,

I checked again on the design file and find out that I was looking at the general MSP430FR5969 without SP. However, I could not find any related document with the SP. But based on the datasheet of the SP device. You can consider that all the MSP430FR5969-SP being a radiation tolerant device, by definition ALL the parameters in the datasheet will remain within specs up to 50 kRad.

    Best regards,
