MSP-EXP430F5529LP: No USB FET found

Part Number: MSP-EXP430F5529LP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, TDC7200EVM, , MSP430FR2476

Hi,

I am trying to use the TDC720xEVM Firmware Source provided when installing the GUI for the TDC7201EVM. I can get the microcontroller to interact and take measurements in the GUI, however, whenever I try to use one of the example codes provided in those files, I end up with the error "MSP430:Error initiliazing emulator: No USB FET was found" in uniflash which cannot automatically detect the device. A similar error is also encountered in CCS.

Would you be able to suggest how I could go about having the microcontroller visible to the software? In device manager, it is seen as the TDC7200EVM, there are no other ports such as the MSP Debug Interface.

Cheers,

Paul

  • Hello Paul,

You shouldn't see the TCD7200EVM on your PC, unless the team that owns that did something atypical with their example SW. Everything should be just talking from the PC perspective to the MSP430 Application UART.

Try downloading a code example to the MSP-EXP430F5529LP independently using CCS cloud or reprogram the Out of Box Experience onto the LP.

  • Hi Jace,

I can't seem to download an example onto the board as regardless of what I do, the device doesn't seem to be recognised by any software other than the TDC720xEVM GUI. After using the BSL button has made it that connecting my device leads to it to being seen under Human Interface Device, rather than in the USB ports section of the device manager.

As a different board (MSP430FR2476) I have works as expected in terms of its port visibility, I have ordered another MSP-EXP430F5529LP that's firmware won't have been changed, so hopefully this will resolve my issues with connecting.

    Cheers,

    Paul
