MSP430F6779: MSP430F6779 Measuring Voltage of Second PWM signal

I need a second PWM signal for charging a second electric vehicle. For the MSP430F6779, is there another PWM timer that can provide a hardware trigger for the ADC? I am already using TA3.0 for the first PWM signal and that is working great. Or, is there a way to create a second PWM signal from the TA3.0 timer?

Hello Michael,

If you need another timer you can use TA0.1 see table 6-20 in the data sheet.

Is there anyway to map TA0.1 to a different pin? I am using that pin for serial communication and as a bootloader pin.

Looking at data sheet (SLAS768E) Tables 6-11 and 6-12 it looks like you can re-assign TA0.1 and TA0.2 to any of the P2/P3/P4 pins. You wouldn't need to do this for the triggering but you would to generate the PWM(s).

I understood from the other thread that your code was already using TA0 for something else. Has that changed?

I thought the default example code was using TA0.1 to trigger the Sigma Delta ADC. I searched for SD24SCS in the code and only found SD24SCS_4 so I think I should be able to use TA0.1.

Can TA0.1 only be re mapped to the P2/P3/P4 pins? We are making a new revision of our circuit board so that's why I am asking.

Yes, according to datasheet Sec 6.13.6 [just prior to Table 6-11].

You can choose any of those (24) pins, so you might be able to try the port-mapping with your current board.
