MSP430F1612: Flash corrupting in production or in the field on some devices.

Part Number: MSP430F1612

We have been using the MSP430F1612IPM for a while in production. Lately we have been getting complaints from the production department as well as from the field that the flash of the microcontroller seems to be corrupting. The executable and the circuit design have not changed in the last 5 years and we have only in the past year been getting the complaint of the flash corrupting. The problem is resolved by replacing the microcontroller. Do you have an idea what the increasing number of failures could be?

  • Hi Dawid,

Do you see any correlation to these failures and a particular LOT/Date code markings on the device? or do the failing devices have different LOT/Date codes?

Regarding the failures that come from the field, are the failures soon after they leave production and enter the field, or have they been in the field for up to a year and then you see the failure?

Does the firmware that runs on this device perform an intentional FLASH erase/write operations (modify existing FLASH locations during runtime)?
