MSP430FR5989: ADC reads in -20 Celsius Temperature Environment

Part Number: MSP430FR5989

Hello Experts,

We are testing a hardware board that uses the MSP430FR5989, and we have encountered an issue related to ADC readings at low temperatures.

When operating in “Repeated Sequence of Channels” mode, all 12 ADC channels are read correctly down to around –15 °C. However, during Cold Restart tests below –15 °C, the readings of the first 2–3 channels become corrupted or unstable, while the remaining channels continue to work properly.

Interestingly, when we return the system to normal temperature conditions, the corrupted channels remain faulty — their readings stay incorrect. But if we perform another Cold Restart at that point, the readings return to normal.

We also observed that at –20 °C, switching from “Repeated Sequence of Channels” mode to reading each of the 12 channels individually in “Single Channel” mode also restores correct behavior.

What could be the possible cause of this issue?

Regards,

Ahmet
